RPA Spotlight: Meet Brother Klyne Smith

Dr. Klyne Smith joined the great Klan of Kappa Alpha Psi on October 17, 1986. He has been a life member since 1994. After college, he remained active by joining the Charlotte, Atlanta, Alexandria, Memphis, and Richardson-Plano Alumni chapters. He is currently a member of the board for the Kappa Alpha Psi Richardson Plano Guide Right Foundation. Dr. Smith also serves as the Assistant Director of the Guide Right Program. Dr. Smith started his volunteerism in 1985 mentoring and tutoring students in the New Orleans, LA area along with helping kids prepare and apply to college. Dr. Smith has dedicated over 30 years focusing on helping disadvantaged students reach higher potentials with transitioning from High School to College. He is currently leading the STEM efforts for the Kappa League for RPA Guide Right.

Recently, Dr. Smith left corporate America to pursue starting his own Project Management Professional Services company. The company focuses on Initiation, Planning, Executing, and PMO Consulting to help organizations optimize complex software delivery projects. Prior to opening his own company, he worked for IBM, Nokia, Ericsson, and Caesars Entertainment where he has delivered technical solutions on 5 continents and 23 countries. He has traveled to over 40 countries for business and pleasure.

Dr. Smith completed his Doctor of Engineering degree from Southern Methodist University, with a concentration in Software Engineering. He also holds a BS in Computer Science / Mathematics from Xavier University of Louisiana, an MS in Management of Information Systems from George Washington University, and an MBA from Christian Brothers University

In addition to running his own company, Dr. Smith is teaching Computer Science and Engineering courses at the University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University.

Klyne has been married for 28 years and has 2 sons (HS Senior, College Freshman).
