Scholarship Opportunity – Up To $ 3,500

DO YOU KNOW OF A DESERVING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR/COLLEGE STUDENT IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR COLLEGE?

To assist in their college career, the Richardson-Plano Alumni Chapter awards scholarships to qualified and deserving male students who are either high school seniors or college students who have graduated from high school within the last three years.

The scholarship is made payable to the student in one lump sum upon verification of enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Educational scholarships in categories such as Academic, Extra Curricula, Community Service, the Arts, Kappa Leaguers are granted to deserving, qualified male students. Each student is awarded an individual scholarship up to the amount of $3,500.

The scholarship is payable to the student in one lump sum upon verification of enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Scholarship application opportunities begins on December 1st 2023 with a submission deadline of March 22, 2024.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Senior high school students who live or attend high schools (public & private) in the North Dallas Metropolitan Area.
  2. Students who require financial assistance to achieve their educational goals.
  3. Minimum GPA of 2.50.
  4. Proof of enrollment as a full-time student in either a two or four-year accredited college or university in the fall of 2024.
  5. Undergraduate college students who graduated within the last three years from a high school in the North Dallas Metropolitan Area.
  6. Membership Training Academy (MTA) students from a college sponsored by the Richardson-Plano Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi.

Application Submission Requirements:

To be considered for a scholarship opportunity, please complete all of the sections, questions and attachments as requested.

Failure to submit all required components may result in the automatic dismissal of the scholarship application.

Next Steps:

Once your scholarship application is submitted, please allow up to three weeks from the close of the submittal period for review.

At the conclusion of the review, a representative from the Richardson/Plano Alumni Chapter will contact you regarding your status in the selection process.

A reception for scholarship recipients will take place in June of 2024 in the Richardson / Plano, Texas area. An exact date and time will be determined on or before March 1, 2024.

    1. If you were to write a story about your life until now, what would the title be? Provide background information regarding why you chose that title.
    1. Tell us about a personal achievement you are proud of and the reasons why.
    1. Describe areas in your life where you demonstrated leadership and overcame obstacles either through your school, social or family life.
    1. Explain a skill, attribute, or quality that differentiates you from everyone else and how you developed it.
  • Your application must include the following documents: An official high school transcript, a copy of your standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), a typed essay of 250 – 350 words, a detailed listing of all extracurricular activities and volunteer work, and at least two letters of recommendation.
